Getting Creative: Putting, Painting, Pancaking

Data Intellect

Another recap of the social activities at AquaQ – this past month we’ve been releasing our inner artists and had a few friendly competitions.

Paint and Prosecco

In February, we wanted to encourage everyone to get their creative juices pumping. For one night only, we transformed the south side of the office into an art studio, complete with mini easels and art supplies. The social committee’s definition of “art supplies” happens to include prosecco, so as the workday drew to a close we grabbed a paintbrush in one hand and a glass of bubbly in the other and got stuck in.

Peruse the paintings and their talented artists below.

The AquaQ Flip-Off

Here at AquaQ we love Pancake Day (or any day that celebrates food, really). We used our weekly standup meeting to hold a competition and discover who is ultimate pancake flipper.

Last year, we had some great entrants with pancake juggling, garlic bread flipping and more, so we were excited to see the talent this year.

The results:

  • Patrick Farren, who had the audacity to flip a regular pancake once, only got 4% of the vote, coming in last
  • Emma Goodwin, who was in the office when she joined the call so made the best of it and flipped a mouse pad, came in fourth
  • Justin Gilmore, for his flipping of a fish finger in a griddle pan, came in third
  • Robert Coen, last year’s defending champion, came in second with his impressive array of tricks
  • Caitlin McIlwaine won the top prize with a daring flip of her own mobile phone. Her flip took all those watching on a magical ride where we too could experience what it truly is to be a pancake and be flipped. Transcendent.
Caitlin won a Bob and Berts voucher, so she can treat herself to even more pancakes.

Thanks to everyone for taking part – and for everyone who sent pictures of their pancakes, even if they were manipulated by their dog to make them…

Singapore Social

The team out in Singapore had an evening enjoying a very good steak and a mini golf session. They are the first team to kick off AquaQ’s Team Mini Golf Challenge!

The Mini Golf Challenge is an ongoing leaderboard to encourage team cohesion and get AquaQ-ers across all locations involved in a fun game of minigolf.

The leader board will be calculated as an average score (or par for the golfers) per person in each team. Weekly updates of the leader board are posted for all to see and at the end one team will be crowned AquaQ Mini Golf World Champions 2023!
