Video Game Night

Following the success of the Mario Kart tournament earlier in the year, a second videogame night was held with a brand new lineup of classic games!

Alongside Mario Kart, we had Crash Bandicoot and Super Smash Bros, 3 games guaranteed to relieve (read: raise) stress and get the competitive juices flowing!

With the usual snacks and chat, the evening was a great way to unwind and have fun during the middle of the week. Many thanks to Rebecca for organising and hosting another great videogame night!

Quarterly Challenge Update

For this quarter, the company challenge is minigolf, and we have had a few entries to kick off the challenge in August.

The DI Cool Kids tee'd off the challenge, and were able to stay calm and collected under pressure, posting an average of 2.64 per person per hole to put them atop the leaderboard. However this wasn't for long, as The Parfectionists were able to match the near perfect score of 2.64, followed by the ever classy Software Engineering Team 2 posting a score of 3.07.

Both The Parfectionists and Software Engineering Team 2 were given bonus point deductions for submitting photos of their scorecards, resulting in final scores of -7.36 and -6.93 respectively, taking first and second place on the leaderboard and pushing the DI Cool Kids to a distant third.

Free Friday Drinks

Back after a small delay, this months Free Friday Drinks event was held in The National on the 16th, providing an opportunity to soak up the last of the Summer sun. Free Friday Drinks occurs on the second Friday of each month and will return in September, hopefully bringing the sun again with it.

International Dog Day Meetup

Monday the 26th was International Dog Day, and since no one else was using it, we brought everyone’s favorite Free Friday Drinks attendees to Stormont Estate.

The dogs had a great time running about with each other, with their owners getting a good workout running after them (although covered in significantly less paint than Data Intellect’s last trip to Stormont).

Thanks to everyone who brought their dogs along and made it such a wonderful day!

Sea Dipping

The sea dipping club continued this month!

Every Friday morning, people who are braver than me go for a dip in the sea at Helen's Bay, and (so I'm told) is a brilliant way to waken up for that final push towards the weekend!

The club is always welcoming new members, so if starting a new life at sea sounds appealing, you are more than welcome to join!

Update from Singapore

In contrast to the cold waters of Belfast Lough, the team in Singapore have been enjoying the warm tropical climate down near the equator!

The team once again met up for the monthly dinner and drinks, one of the many social events held in Singapore throughout the year!
