August Social blog

Blog Life At Data Intellect 1 Sep 2026

Emma Goodwin

August is here and we have increased in number once again

August is over, kids are back to school (or soon to be!), and we continue to have fun events across the month!

We welcomed a new cohort into Data Intellect at the beginning of this month! We also welcomed them to the Belfast office for the in house training.

The benefit of being in Belfast for the beginning of their Data Intellect journey is not only the training, but also getting to meet and socialise with people in person that they might only see over teams in future if they move to different locations!

Free Friday Drinks 🍻

One such event being the Free Friday Drinks that we hold every month! We had a great turn out this month, the weather holding off certainly helped.

Shout out to Kent and Jude who joined me last month at the last FFD where it was, perhaps, a little more rainy than expected or desired! See you next month at the next FFD.

Golf... but small

This quarter’s challenge is mini-golf and we have had another team, the Monday Society, head out to take over the top spot on the leaderboard!

Grab your teams and head out for an evening of fun and more importantly, the glory! (And bragging rights)

Fleadh

The Fleadh arrived in Belfast for the first time ever this month and it was a week full of music and dancing as over 1.6 million (!?) people descended upon the city.

We had a group head out together to enjoy some of the festivities and even had one of our number go up on the big stage! Congrats to Jason McCoubrey on his performance at the opening of the Fleadh! I unfortunately missed most of the events of the Fleadh this year but luckily it will be back again next year.

Singapore Supper

Sometimes you just want to go for food and catch up with people outside of the office and the Singapore teams went out and did just that!

Good food and drinks were to be had with some visiting members of DI also making an appearance. Perhaps they’re plotting on how to regain their spot on the Quarterly Challenge leader board…

To sit or to climb?

Board games or bouldering, do you want to sit or climb up a wall? We got it all!

We had another successful board games night in Belfast with some of the new cohort joining us on the multitude of board and card games.

And further still we climb up the walls! All of us who go regularly have started to move up a level of difficulty, improvement! Calling out to anyone who wants to join us, as always, beginners welcome. Check out the bouldering teams chat.

Water you doing there?

I’m a big fan of water, love jumping in it, so I am JEALOUS of the Hong Kong team who had a fantastic day swimming and relaxing. By the laid-back posture on all of them on the tow, they seemed to be going at a pretty tranquil pace!

And look at that skyline in the first picture, they had the water, the views, and also enjoyed a meal on the boat. I hope no-one was sea sick!

Catch you next month for more updates, perhaps a sale of baked goods?
