Data Intellect

Welcome back to our monthly blog on life at Data Intellect, where we bring you the latest regional updates on social activities in the company. Each month, we’ll dive into our regular outings, social clubs, quarterly team challenges, community/charity events and much more!

Catching rays at Free Friday Drinks

To kick off June we had our usual free drinks event across the company.

In Belfast, for the second month in a row, Summer answered our call with a gorgeous (and rare) sunny evening. Our Hong Kong folk are well used to warm weather by now, and are never spotted in anything heavier than a t-shirt (I’m sure you’ve noticed it too, as you huddle around your hot cup of coffee reading this). Its great to see everyone out having a bit of craic and catching up after a long week!

The Great North Coast Adventure

For our annual "Away Day" this year, we opted for a tour of the rugged North Coast!

It was an early start as we set off from Belfast in classic school trip fashion - each with goodie bag packed with snacks, limited edition DI sunglasses and a rain poncho (as one can never be too prepared for summer in NI). Our first stop was the infamous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, which involved a wibbly wobbly 30 metre high crossing onto the small island of Carrickarede. Next, we popped into the legendary Old Bushmills Distillery (founded in 1784) for a tour through the entire whiskey distillation process, accompanied by sweet smells of bourbon, whiskey and rum.

As we continued our winding journey along the coastal scenic route, we had a break at the tranquil Magheracross Viewing Point, which boasted views of Scotland's rocky outline atop the clear blue sea. Then it was on to the Giant's Causeway, where we heard tales of geology and giants, and climbed amongst the columns. We finished our adventure with a meal in the Ramore Wine Bar (Portrush), before making the long journey home again.

Thank you Cliona for organising such a wonderful and memorable day! Check out our socials (linked below) for more pictures and videos!

Swiftie Craft corner

Taylor Swift Eras tour has become a thing of legend this year, and as you may already know, it has become custom for fans to make friendship bracelets to trade and share at the concerts.

To prepare for her Dublin shows, our resident Swifties got together with the Crafting club to make friendship bracelets as if their lives depended on it. After a whirlwind of colours and eras, most of us left with enough bracelets to last a lifetime (incredibly, some of the girls kept going!).

Thanks Rebecca, Cara and Cliona for organising everything (and for the Taylor Swift trivia), we hope you all had a blast!

Announcing the Q3 Champions

With the end of Q2 fast approaching, two more teams headed out to try their luck at the Quarterly Team Challenge - Laser Tag! Both teams gave it their all, the London Laser People (in - you guessed it - London) landed in fifth place (knocking team NYC to the bottom of the leader board), and Team SG (Singapore) grabbed fourth place.

Whilst they may have shook the leader board, their efforts weren't enough to take down the reigning champions, the Red team, who scored a total of 7090 points last month!

Congrats to the Red team for the win, and big round of applause to all our teams for taking on the challenge! Thanks also to our QTC events organiser, Caitlin.

Stay tuned as we announce the next QTC in next month's blog!

New york nights

Word on the wire is that the New York team were out for a lovely evening of dinner and drinks, joined by our beloved globe trotters, Justin and David!

We love to see it guys - thank you Joyce for organising!

Colour dash for Kids

On the Community side, DI participated in the Cash for Kids Colour Dash with Cool FM this month! The event involved a 5km run (through a boat load of powdered paint) to raise money for the Cash for Kids charity.

Thank you to all of our runners who attended, and for Rebecca for organising!
